According to Shahr News, Alireza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran and Vice President of the Metropolis Organization, in a virtual meeting of the "The Guangzhou International Award (Guangzhou Award)" held on November 13, 1400 regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and urban management, referring that we have a legacy in the cities that have been left for us from the past, said: It is natural when we look at the situation of the past to the present day, we see great things that we should rely on them, and we see flaws and shortcomings that we should best learn from and avoid them. This legacy that we have today reminds us of the serious and horizontal distance we have to move in that direction, that we have a desirable horizon in every metropolis, in which, according to the slogan of this summit, sustainable development and urban governance, we have to draw what is desirable and be able to achieve it step by step.
He introduced the first lesson as the mutual need of cities for each other and added: "According to this, each of us, despite having diverse beliefs, traditions and national values, can move together towards the desired one that we believe in and play a beautiful role. This kind of view is a basic necessity and stands exactly the opposite of the view that those who seek to colonize other nations and pursue arrogant temperament in the world, seek to dominate others and the culture, possessions and heritage of others.
He added: "In Tehran, we intend to set a great model based on our national beliefs, traditions and assets, which will provide a great opportunity for others."
He introduced the citizens as a turning point of activities and added: "Nothing can be done and lasting without the presence of the people and no change except on the axis of the people. Our effort is to bring people to the scene of participation, and our effort is to be able to figure out that great change with the presence of the people, with the focus on the elites.
