According to the city reporter, Pirooz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, in a meeting with Jacques Werner, the Netherlands ambassador to Iran, said: “In addition to the development of technology and the environment, the first issue that comes to mind from the Netherlands is the issue of bicycles and the use of people from bicycles."
He added: "Family sports and the use of bicycles for the workplace and daily affairs is a new issue in Tehran, although 40 years ago, bicycles were one of the main modes of transportation in Tehran."
Hanachi emphasized: Our view on the issue of bicycles in Tehran is that if we accompany people, with the presence of each bicycle, a car will be reduced from the city.
The mayor of Tehran also said: The Netherlands is also advanced in the discussion of new energies and then the use of these experiences is important for Tehran. Because the use of fossil fuels is very high in Tehran.
By referring that the future of Tehran's transportation is in the use of electric vehicles, he added: "Last week, we unveiled an electric bus, which was sponsored by a local company, and a contract was signed to produce 100 electric buses."
In the following, while pointing out that 10% of air pollution in Tehran is due to the existence of bicycle and gasoline engines, Hanachi explained: "We also have plans for these motorcycles, but the main issue is the motorcycle batteries, which are very expensive which this issue will be resolved by the swap system and these moves will accelerate in the event of the lifting of sanctions.
