Management of Financial Studies and Urban Economy

Because of the development of societies and growth of urbanization and, consequently, the growing needs of cities and citizens, urban management, especially municipalities, have been prompted to conduct researches and urban studies in order meet the needs of cities and resolve their shortcomings. Since urban space is complex and multi-faceted, multiple thematic, structural, and physical functions and aspects come together in close interaction and create a city’s overall identity and functionality. And there is no doubt that economic performance is one of the most important, influential, and lasting functions of a city, so much so that without understanding and analyzing the economic aspects of a city’s function, other aspects and problems of a city cannot be properly analyzed.

That is why Tehran Urban Planning and Research Center (TUPRC) has tried to use the predictions of economic management and financial planning and urban economy in order to find the research priorities of the city and municipality of Tehran in order to offer practical solutions.

In fact, conducting research studies about municipalities’ financial resources and moving towards sustainable revenues are among the specific responsibilities of the current management, and we hope to be able to take a small but effective step towards promoting urban economy in Iran and the city of Tehran.
