Maysam Basirat, the head of Tehran Urban Research and Planning Center (TURPC), by calling the new form of privatization of urban spaces in Tehran as a serious challenge, said: while capital domination contributes to this, the lack of integrated urban management is also an important factor.
According to Management of knowledge promotion and international affairs of TURPC, Maysam Basirat, by referring at the Meeting of Strategic Documentation of Tehran Urban Space Management that creation of places in Tehran has always been a problem, said: in Tehran, the public sphere has not been officially recognized and there are not good works in this area. In addition, we are faced with a lot of problems in the maintenance of the spaces, especially today, in the municipality, we face some problems in terms of financial resources.
Ali Ghaffari, project manager and professor of urban planning and design at Shahid Beheshti University, considered the scale of urbanization in Tehran unlike the global trend and said: The new Iranian lifestyle is based on automobile.
Also, Abdolreza Golpayegani, Deputy of Urbanization and Architecture of Tehran Municipality, by criticizing the quality of urban spaces, stated: even in the home and school spaces, there is not possibility of communication and live and nature, and this policy has alienated the citizens with the neighborhood and the city, and on a small scale, there's no great feeling for a city.
